Minister, good man.
The Rev. Dwight E. Smith, 76, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Tri-City Hospital of a ruptured abdominal aneurism.
Born Aug. 22, 1930, in Falls City, Neb., he lived in Oceanside for 15 years. He was a Unitarian Universalist Minister and served nearly 12 years as co-minister with his wife, the Rev. Carol Hilton, at Palomar Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. He enjoyed reading and using the public libraries and his interests ranged from the Civil War to birds, mushrooms and Harry Potter.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 23 years, Carol Hilton, of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Marilyn Smith of Lafayette, La.; daughter Cara Ferguson of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Palomar Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Vista.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Memorial Fund, Palomar Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1600 Buena Vista Dr., Vista, CA 92081, or to a charity of choice.
