Hi Aaron...
I have to tell you that a piece of perfboard inside a DB-25 housing is all
you really need :-) Or buy one of the cables on eBay -- they're really not
much more than doing it yourself.
Also, be aware that messiong with FPGAs really isn't any more complex
than CPLDs -- well, at least that's my opinion. Infact, for hobbyist
purposes, I prefer FPGAs over CPLDs...although I guess commercial reasons
could sway that the other way.
I currently hack around with Altera Cyclones with PROMs....FYI.
