Thanks for the info, but read the instructions 14 Floppy disks.
2 for the base and then 12 for the entire system.
Mind you I am not complaining about the link, I appreciate it. It WILL help
something I am working on at home.

I always thought peeweelinux was the best for making small linuxes, you
can choose your target, including floppy , compactflash, etc, and choose
what packages you want, and bam, it does it for you.
It is very cool to boot off that old, "worthless" 8MB flash card from my
camera :)
Cheers,
Bob

It's a *nix. Not linux per se, but does it really need to be? And it
was a commercial product, but it has been released under a free
liscence as well.
All of this is, of course, AFAIK.

I am working with that now. It's cool once you learn it, but
there's learning curve that comes from a dearth of documentation.
I went on a quest to find an embedded Linux to use, and settled
on PeeWee. For some reason, I never hit on the page that /Morgan
posted here. Having run it through that form, I now have another
half dozen to look at. Though I've already chosen. I do know
Coyote. That's what my firewall is made of.
For the PeeWeeLinux project, I have to figure out how to get
from the web server to some external control. I will have
an audience of PICs out there just waiting to hear from me.
I think there is an I2C module for the kernel though I didn't
see it in the stock config. Any hints would be appreciated.
It will also be fun to see what else I can build out of this
embedded stuff. X terminal? TCP monitor? Samba box? ...

All distributions will let you start the install by making one or
two floppies. And many of them have a "base" install requiring
a dozen or so diskettes. Debian used to be famous for this.

I forgot about that aspect. We were looking at it for a product OS. It
didn't have what we were looking for.
There is always VxWorks. (It's a joke son, laugh.)
