The PICList is not for requesting or sending copyrighted materials.
Continued and blatant requests for obviously copyrighted materials (or
cracked / warez software) will result in removal of the requestor from this
list.
Please don't respond to this (or at least not publicly on the PICList)
It is a violation of copyright and a disrespect to hard working people who
have priced electronic access to their magazine VERY reasonably.

How is this any different then asking a librarian for help in locating a
periodical?
Also, maybe he reads the article and realizes what a great periodical
epe-mag is and then subscribes so in essence you are helping them generate
revenue.
I agree that they deserve to make a profit but maybe we should just point
him to the website where he can get it and not treat him with such a heavy
hand.
If that is the case then everytime someone requests ANY document I suggest
you send this message out because almost everything out there has a
copyright on it - even if it is freely avail.

Hi,

Very different actually.. You can lend him your copy without any
problems. The problem is copying and having 2 copies of the same material.

I agree with that... The main problem is that people on the list were
saying that a guy in underdeveloped countries with no means to buy VERY
EXPENSIVE software was wrong at copying it and may think that it is ok to
copy a magazine that costs Us$ 9,95 a YEAR !!! It is just not reasonable...
We all should honor and support companies with reasonable prices... That
is my opnion. It is more than a legal question, it is a moral question. We
should not support companies that charge big bucks for their software and
have no special conditions for students and underdeveloped countries and
steal from companies that are very reasonable at their prices.

The $9.95 is for the internet (electronic) version! :)
The paper version costs considerably more.

You did not understand it correctly..... It has nothing to do with you
directly. I have the same problem down here in Brazil in a lesser extent but
the same problem. The problem is people saying that it is wrong to copy
expensive software and saying that it is ok to copy magazine content.
As for the earning of the "EPE's patrons" I think that they deserve it
when they make a good publishing job for reasonable prices.
Do not get me wrong.... I have real, first hand, knowledge of how things
can be hard on countries outside the USA and EU. All I was saying is that
you can not treat companies with HUGE profit margins that have no concern
about how hard it is to give them the money they are asking for their
products and companies that have reasonable prices and offer good products.
