I've found a pretty nice 4x40 large VFD made by ISE, but the data sheet doesn't say exactly what controller is being used, so wondering if anyone has driven one of these before?  I can go back and compare the timing with that of the "standard" HD44780 chip, but figured I'd ask first.

The surplus unit I found is a 4x20, p/n CU4004  and of course isnt on the website

aasi.net/development/datasheets/LCD_VFD/CU40046.pdf

is the datasheet.  For $50, not a bad deal I guess as long as it isnt a pain the ____ to drive.
