'[EE] Microcontroller "Interfacing" book'

At some point I've seen a book (or .pdf or website, I'm not sure which)
which covers microcontroller interfacing....  That is, things like the
design of various input and output circuits to connect various sensors
to a microcontroller (or even microcomputer).   For instance, an
optocoupled DC input or a safe AC-line-voltage meter.

But, like happens so often, now I need it, I haven't been able to find
such a beast....

What I'm looking for is a circuit "cookbook" which will provide the
starting point for how to handle interfacing common real-world devices
in a safe way with a microcontroller...   It's not that I can't design
such a beast on my own.... I'm just getting tired of doing so with every
device, and it's kinda stupid to go through the hassles of working
through a dozen different approaches just to recreate what is in print
somewhere.

Suggestions?

Practical Electronic Design Data   by Owen Bishop  , Babini Press.
Analog Interfacing to Embedded uP   by Stuart Ball Newnes (Elsevier Press)
Maxim and Linear Tech have some interfacing papers.
The GCSE Teach In series from EPE magazine normally has bog standard interfacing circuits.
Elektor magazine have published a book, forgets it's name, though if their using visual basic for uC is any guide a may be a bit disappointing.
EPE also publish a massive tome Modern Electronics Manual, the postage costs are horrendous, but may be the US site can provide it locally. Oh I've just checked, it's now in CD format, however they make their money via a subscription service, bit like a TimeLife video set, never ending.

Colin,

Are these just books you know of, or actually recommend from having read
these?

Cheers,
-Neil.
