Hi Chris, i'm in Australia and we have the highest
incidence of skin cancer in the world, according to the
ads on TV. I believe that is largely due to the hole in the
ozone layer, which is over some of antarctica and some
of lower Australia. Interesting that lower Australia
has less sun total but higher cancer rates than northern
Australia. Also maybe the northerners see the sun as
enemy and cover up more where we southerners see it as
good to go get a tan.
However I have studied nutriton and my woman has a
degree in nutrition and chemistry. UV exposure is
VITAL for good health. It converts some vitamins,
it boosts the immune system, it changes brain hormones
for the better and can decrease stored bodyfat and
cholesterol. So I will argue the "smart people get
NO UV" point as I think it is totally wrong.
SOME sunlight on at least 25% of your body is vital
to maintain a healthy mental and physical condition.
