I have all the entries in my W2k Start/Programs menu laid out
nice and alphabetically (yes, you can say "anal-retentive") so
that it's easy to find. However, I've noticed that Windows
takes it upon itself to shuffle some of these around once in a
while for no apparent reason, and w/o my prior explicit written
permission.
Anyone know why this occurs and how to stop it?
Cheers,
-Neil.

Heh, it's not a bug, it's a feature ;-)
Right click on the start menu and select "Sort by name"

When you shut windows down, it then saves your nice and neat desktop settings.
If you don't shutdown properly or the system crashes, you can loose all the nice settings.

Hmmm... I first tried this on the Start button, but no
sort option. But I get this in the actual Programs menu.
Great fix. Now if only I could figure out why it's doing
this in the first place.
Thanks,
-Neil.

Hmmm... this is not the reason then. It hasn't crashed
in quite a while (though I re-boot often), and I've
rebooted many times since it was last setup properly,
w/o any new SW additions, etc.
Arrrggghhhh!!!
