'[OT]: Fluke 8020A DVM LCD Replacement'

I have an old Fluke 8020A DVM that I bought in the 70's and
the LCD is failing which is amazing considering the years of
`use and abuse'. I've been unable to track down the part and the
part number is a Fluke number. It's similar to standard 3 1/2
digit LCDs but rather than use a DIP package it has surface
connectors on the top. If needed, I can hack a display in there
but I would like to find a compatible replacement since I use
this DVM when I'm in the field getting my boots muddy...

  Thanks,

  - Tom

Did you check with Fluke?  I have had to replace the displays on several of
my meters over the years and had no problems getting them from Fluke
directly as well as from my local distributor.  Last one was a year or so
ago - one of my Fluke 8050A displays died.  But I've gotten displays for
the 87, 12, 8023, probably others over the past 15 years.

Dwayne, I've had trouble contacting Fluke but I found an Ad in
EDN so I give them a call. Thanks,

Dwayne, I just checked and Fluke no longer stocks the LCD. Time to
`Hack'... I still have the manual so it should be easy. Just comming
up with a reasonable mechanical mount. Thanks again,

I've just checked with a buddy of mine - it is possible that he has
one.  He's gonna have a look.

Dwayne, thanks but I've already hacked it and it's working fine.
