'[OT]: PSX mod chip for PSOne - Please put an end t'

The fact is here, there are two sides to this coin, and neither is totally
good, nor totally bad. Both sides are right AND they are both wrong.
You cannot generalise the way you are doing, in some circumstances using a
mod chip is fine, for example running your own programs. However the
creating of that chip brings new issues with it as well, for example piracy.
No matter what you say or do, no one will come up with a solution that
appeals to all audiences. I agree it's a pain you have to buy things, and
that you can't just use them anyway. BUT, that doesn't make it right to copy
them and get them for free.
Put yourself in the developers shoes, they spend all that time and work
creating something, and you want to just take that from them, and give them
nothing. Its like locking them in a cage and forcing them to work for you!
How would you like it if someone just came along and took your car from you,
or your home? Would you like that? You spent all that time working for it,
to get the money for it, and someone just takes it from you. Don't say it's
not the same thing, because you ALL know it is.
Take yourselves right back to the roots of money, and find out where it came
from and why it was created. If you're in the UK, read your #10 note, read
what it says. I promise to pay the bearer, on demand the sum of....
ANYONE who violates these things are morally wrong, therefore those of you
that are trying to oppose these things are in the wrong. So don't preach to
others and try to make it sound right.
Both sides of this argument and being blinded by one view or another. The
fact is, we make rules for our own good, if you break those rules, then you
are a fool. Our civilisation is built on rules and laws, we wouldn't have
evolved into the peaceful(ish) communities we are now in if it wasn't for
them. If you think those rules are wrong, by all means protest against them,
and try to come up with a better solution, but DON'T break the rules that
are already in place.
I'm sure you ALL know the laws in your various countries, especially those
about theft. It doesn't matter how small it is, how insignificant it may be,
as soon as you break that law, you become a criminal whether you like it or
not.
My final point is, those of you that are posting things like copying CDs, I
would be a little more careful if I were you. Finding someones IP, and
tracing the email to its original location isn't difficult if you know what
you're doing. You are putting yourselves at risk just by posting articles
about trying to copy things etc. I know its not impossible to send an email
and be unable to trace it, but those of you that read this, don't have to
start joining in and going along with the criminal posting it in the first
place.
It doesn't matter what I say here, it isn't going to please all parties. The
same goes for anyone else who puts any input into this thread. This is
something that no-one will win. Therefore it's futile trying to argue it.
I'm sure the original sender of this post never intended this to happen. By
all means question what he is doing BY EMAIL, but don't then start taking
someones post and developing it into a way of stealing software.
My proposal is that EVERYONE stops this futile argument now, as its not
going to accomplish anything. Those of you that wish to discuss piracy,
email it between yourselves or jigger off to another forum, but don't
discuss this on a forum which was created to discuss PICs.
Each person who reads this will have his or her own view on software piracy,
but please keep them off forums like this one unless its actually going to
be constructive, ie. like protecting your PIC code from criminals. Those of
us that read this forum and use it constructivly don't want pointless,
futile threads like this one starting because of a few insensitive fools
that wish to conduct criminal activity.
Regards,
Chris Pringle.
P.S. Remember what I said earlier, emails can be traced if you have the
power to do so.

I completely agree with the stated opinion that this argument should end.
But I think that your request for it's dissmisal was a rather blatant
contribution to the argument in your own opinion, which was extremly biased.
Were you trying to appeal to both sides of the argument?
I scoff!
Besides, who cares if someone can trace an email? Big wow!
