Hi all, I don't know if anyone's interested in old Harleys at all, but I reluctantly had to sell one that I've had for quite some time. As a matter of fact I did my very first PIC project on her which was for an automatic advance and worked from the standard 6 volt system. Just having come from looking at your web page, my sincerest condolences to you and your family on such a heart rending loss. It's terrible, mate, just terrible. I did have a WW2 Indian for a short time but it was too dangerous to ride around town. Much preferred the old 50's low-slung Norton, at least you could change gear with your foot !! Saw the release of the new models. Dyed-in-the-wool bikers not impressed with the sleek Japanese look. I wasn't following this comment, so I went over and took a look. I guess it'll appeal to some, I guess. I've been riding a Honda Pacific Coast for the last 10 years. I wanted a Harley (Electra Glide), but couldn't afford it at the time. So I went to the other end of the spectrum (if you've ever seen a Pacific Coast, you'd know what I mean). This new line from HD does not do it for me. Guess I'll be riding my '89 PC800 for another 10 years. Kevin BTW, to keep this somewhere in the ballpark, I've been thinking about putting an accelerometer in the bike to activate the brake light when I'm slowing down (significantly) but not touching the brakes. Japanese bikes are quick and plentiful, but seem kind of like Kleenex - you use 'em and toss 'em, it's not like they have any personality. My wife's grandparents were riding their ex-police 1200 until they were well into their 70's. Wesley installed an electric start only when he got too old to kick it, I'm told. I've been riding for 25 years now and I always have and always will ride with anyone. Harley's just my preference. Yeah, I'm still reeling from the pain of buying a new one. Still, that didn't hurt as much as the 'feedback' from the missus :-) I'm getting into flying now - ultralights, after I finish getting my license.
