'[OT] Dayton or Bust!'

Hi all,
Well, it's that time of year again...Dayton Hamvention time! Last year
I met Dave VanHorn, Nate Duer (sorry about the spelling) and of course
my old friend Carey. This year I'd love to add to that list! If anyone
is planning on attending please let me know and we can set a time and
place to meet up.
Thanks!

Sweet! I live in Toledo and the TMRA (ham group) is chartering a bus
for us to go to Dayton. I'll definately be there. We're only going 1
day though (Saturday), but will be there all day. I'm anxious.

Do you already have reservations? I heard all hotels in a 30 mile
radius have been sold out since last years hamfest.
Seems like at least 3 people will be going, maybe we could all meet up
sometime (Saturday preferably) :)

Yup, I reserve in advance!

Assuming that Carey's company (NCS) is exhibiting again, I propose
their booth as a meeting place. Say...noon on Saturday? Hopefully
he'll chime in with more info.

I wish.. Dad's still recovering from more hip work, and I'm tied up
here in Pittsburgh.
:(
Maybe next year.
I'm puzzled though.. All the CMU robotics guys are here, but there's
apparently no electronics shops in the area. The hobby stores don't
even go as far as the one 2 miles from my house in muncie in. No
frys, the closest is indianapolis...
Seems bizarre

Aye, seems like the mom-pop electronics stores died out in the 90's.
At least that's what I hear. Most people just do mail order now adays.
Though Radio shack does have *some* things, but nothing great.
Check magazines :) I like Circuit Cellar. A good place I've found
recently (as I'm getting started) is http://www.jameco.com
Btw hope your father gets better.

I had reservations at least 6 months ago, probably more, over 55 can't
remember.

Yeah, I know the online places, but I really like to get my hands on things.

Well, I hope he gets better soon! Does this mean he'll be a little
less reliant on the scooter? That battery search was by far my
favourite story of last year's event!

Yea, I hope your father has a speedy recovery.
The 50th Dayton I pawed thru MANY 4 foot square boxes of SMT stuff.
(I actually wanted it all, but there is a limit to what I can fit on the
bike!)

No worries on the spelling, and sorry - I won't be there this year.

Ok, I'm here, the bargains are flowing, and I'm spending and selling.
If anyone is here (and checking email) stop by our fleamarket spot.
We're in 304 right near the main Hara entrance across from the
sweatshirt guys. Look for the minivan with the British Columbia
plates. Just ask for Josh!

Was this outside in the fleamarket? I told the guys someone might be
by looking for me, but I didn't mention the PICList.
Ah well...perhaps next year!
