With the Gas price all time high in the USA and an earning warning today from UPS, I am pretty sure it is a good time and good excuse for freighter carrier to increase the shipping charges. I knew UPS and Fedex had a "floating oil charge (it changed probably day by day according to oil price)" a long time ago for international shipping already. So the next big one probably would be the USPS which had increased the flat fee too many times in the past 5 years (the cost for mailing a letter inside USA increased from 27 cents to today's 41 cents. For the same kind of service, the value of dollar almost lost 50%.). So, any idea how it is going to affect our business life if the customer are national-wide or world-wide? Thanks, Chris, this is something I am worried but didn't know about. I thought it will stick to 41 cents for a long time, didn't aware it is so quick. And the department of energy foresees the gas price will top to 4 dollars a gallon average this summer. Here at New Bedford, it is about $3.10 a gallon, I have friends from Connecticut reported $3.50 a gallon already. Funny N. We were paying $3.60-$3.80 for regular unleaded in California a couple of weeks ago. It would have hurt if it wasnt for the fact that we pay over double that in the UK at the moment. We're seriously thinking of retiring to CA. So much nicer over there than in the UK. Dom {Original Message removed}

Gas prices suck. I do believe that we pay more for our gas than many other places, even though it comes out of the ground here and is refined right here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. No transportation costs. So why is it that we are currently paying $1.149 per liter for the lowest grade gasoline? That works out to about $4.34 per US gallon (3.78 L/USG). Local gasoline prices are predicted to hit $1.50 per Liter this summer. These high prices are even BEFORE the various government agencies start to begin their skirmishes on Climate Change. What we've been told is that the government will be providing "Financial Incentives" for people to reduce their fuel consumption. What they mean by that, of course, is that they want to increase the cost of fuel to the point where no one will use any more of it than absolutely necessary. Dwayne, I like your way of thinking :) I had a call yesterday, can I take a set of 1/2" adapters to a site down the country - "urgent has to be there today - cant use a courier" I jumped in my car, drive the 280 mile round trip using about 8 gallons of fuel (34 mpg average), and 5 hours of my life. And they say governments dont waste money.
