"Who do you work for?" "Oh HairyLemon Media Solutions".
I'll have to apply just to be able to say I want to work for
HairyLemon.
Now who wants to sell me a Nz driving licence?

I have to say with some company names, when they 'try' to be cool hip and
happening, does make you wonder how they came up with them. And more
importantly I guess - how you are meant to mentally associate 'hairy lemon'
with media production.
However, one companies style which I thought quite Impressive to begin with,
is the company 'the dept of doing' http://www.departmentofdoing.co.nz/
having seen the outside of their offices in Devonport it's a very good spin
on a sort of govt. dept idea.
Just my 2p worth.

I'm in the home automation industry, specifically in lighting control. When
I train installers I have a few funny company names that I share with them.
My favorite is:
Superior Home Integrated Technologies. SH*T for short!
2nd place
Associated Sound Systems ASS for short!
3rd place
Sound Technology Dynamics STD for short!

Have you heard of SICK AG?
www.sick.com/group/EN/home/Pages/Homepage1.aspx
It is one of the leading companies of photoelectric sensors.
The company got its name from its founder --
Dr.-Ing. h.c. Erwin Sick.

And Springfield Heights Institute of Technology
I remember seeing one of those reality cop shows where they were
discussing, seriously, the Fast Action Response Team. Yeah, you
really want *those* initials on your jacket in big yellow letters. So
much better and authoritative than dumb ones that don't make words,
like FBI

Shades of the Rolls Royce model name that had to be marketed under a
different name in Spain, as the English name meant Horse Sh*t in Spanish ...
or something along those lines, it is that long since I last heard the story
I cannot remember the exact details.

At a local church, they had a sign for a while showing their web site as
http://www.cum-online.org The name of the church was Cornerstone United
Methodist. They've since changed the name to something a little less
risque. It took me a while to stop laughing every time I saw it - in
fact, I'm laughing now, but I'm easily amused.
