None of the 10F series currently has an A/D.  There are four choices, which
is all four combinations of small and big memory and with/without
comparator.

Yes, of course, I meant comparator.

It appears that the only way to get some to try them out is to buy this part No. from the Microchip online store:

AC163021

It gives you 5 10F206 (with the comparator) (SOT-23 pkg), 5 transition boards with DIP pin headers, from the SOT-23 package (you do the soldering) to 8 pin DIP.  The transition board is PCB wired so that the pins of the 10F2xx parts can be directly plugged into the PICkit 1 board for programming and testing (with updated PICkit 1 PC software).  Note that the pin out is very different than the pin pattern layout on the 8 pin parts, thus causing the need for the transition PCB.  They also make an adapter board with a SOT-23 socket (AC163020).  And, to use the PICkit 1 you have to upgrade the firmware on the PICkit 1 using part No. UK164101.

They have two very thorough on line WebCasts at the Microchip site that explain all these options in detail.

They are great devices, offering all sorts of interesting possibilities!  (I have no affiliation with Microchip.)  But, IMHO, they should have held off on the publicity until samples were available and production was nearer.  After all, they only cost something like 70 cents each.  They would probably do well to give them away in great quantities as a promotion.  One distributor I normally work with expects them to be available around January with one reel minimum sales (I think it was several thousand parts on a reel).  There is also supposed to be an 8 pin DIP version for protoboard work.

Hmm.  Looks like Newark has some parts they're sending out.  Special
deal
on pickit1 w 10F parts, and a $12 kit of 10f parts and SOT->DIP8 adaptor
PCBs.  That sounds like "paying a premium" to me.  OTOH, it looks like
the
current programming solution is to solder the parts to the dip8 adaptor,
which is a bit sad...

Perhaps the release holdup is finding an adequate "programming socket"
for SO23/6 packages...

The Microchip AC163020 "PIC10F2XX universal programmer adapter" (for the PICkit 1) has a SOT-23 clam shell socket.  Note that older PICkit 1 boards need new firmware and PC software to use this board.

Uh huh.  And that's one of the parts I don't actually see being sold.
The little PCB adaptors look like a workaround for non-availability
of the clam shell socket.

The Newark web page is http://www.newarkinone.com/microchip/

Most distributors, including Mouser, DigiKey, Newark, etc. didn't have any 10F2xx stock or samples as of early August.  We were told January for production reels, they may be out sooner.

We are using all of these parts as purchased from the Microchip Web site: http://buy.microchip.com/ in early August.

They are listed them only for info (I absolutely agree with the post that suggests that 8 pin DIP 12* parts are fine for many applications and they are FAR easier to work with.)  I had to use the stereo microscope to load the clam shell.

10F2xx adapter parts:

Part Number:  AC163021 - 6L SOT-23 to 8P DIP Adapter Kit (not needed if you use AC163020)

Part Number:  AC163020 - PIC10F2XX PROGRAMMER ADAPTER (works with ICD2)

Part Number:  UK164101 - PICKIT 1 FIRMWARE UPGRADE KIT
