Hello all

As a newbie to the PIC I am looking for a C Compiler and dev tools. In the
uk there is a company selling these called Forest Developments they have
compilers and dev environments.

Does anyone have any experiance of these products as I have no way of
knowing if they're any good or not !

If anyone can advise me that would be great.

Thanks

Russel, I've been using the FED PIC C system for over a year now.  It was pretty shaky at first but they kept working on it and improving it.  Now it has blossomed into a rather nice product, so nice that I decided to purchase the PIXIE software from them as well.  I am just finishing a 64 contact closure encoder/decoder project over a 485 link with it. One thing that has helped me alot is the external LCD simulation.  So I guess you could count me in as one who would recommend it.  On the other hand I probably wouldn't have much success with C on the PIC if I did not first use MPLAB with assembly.  Using MPLAB and assembly will force you to learn the chip in more detail and provide a good knowledge base before moving to a higher language.
