Hi again...
Just a minor update :-)
I tried to run through enough steps in the ordering process
just to get the total. And the total cost raised from 18.77 EUR
to 67.21 EUR (apeox $90 USD) after the following was added :
Base price : 18.77 EUR
Shipping : 25.00 EUR (aprox 33 USD)
Handling : 10.00 EUR (!)
VAT : 13.44 EUR
Well well...
Jan-Erik.

"Buy Microchip" really don't like small orders! The "Handling" charge will be because the value of the order is less than a certain amount. I recently ordered a number of items from them, and was charged UK£12 (about US$23) shipping, but I ordered enough to avoid the handling charge (which would have been UK£10 I think). But that shipping charge is pretty awful considering it weighed less than 1kg, and travelled less than 50 miles - I could have sent it to the USA by airmail ("small packet") for that. They used "UPS Saver Express" - I'm glad they used a "Saver" option!
I presume the shipping for you is from outside Sweden, so it costs more still...

Jan-Erik,
Apparently Mchip isn't to fond of international orders. This is what the
quote me for S/H: (I'm in the states)
Base Total: (USD) 25.00
Discounts: (USD) 0.00
Subtotal: (USD) 25.00
Shipping: (USD) 8.20
Handling: (USD) 0.00
TAX: (USD) 0.00
Total: (USD) 33.20
If you're interested contact me off list and we'll arrange for me to buy it
and ship it to you global priority.

Don't you have a local Microchip agent who can get it in as part
of normal component delivery ?

List, FYI...
I've taken Denny's offer, and he was able to order a BFMP and
send it from the US to Sweden for less then *half* the cost that I'd have
to pay to order it from the UK to Sweden ($40 vs. $90). And with shorter
delivery time since it was backordered in the UK... :-)

Jan-Erik.

Hi.
Thanks to Denny Esterline, my BFMP programmer arrived today.
I loaded the CD and, nothing happend. The PC just hang.
I removed the CD and found out that, well see attached image. :-)
Now, I have searched around the MC site, but can not for my
life find a online download copy of the "PICkit1 Baseline
Flash Programming PC application" that should have been
on the CD. I can't even find a page with the PICkit1...
Anyone having a link ?
Regards,
Jan-Erik.

Ah, the old exploding CD ploy! :-)

No, but I have a BFMP (probably wouldn't have happened if you'd bought it from me :-) with its CD. If you
can't find it I could create an .ISO of the CD and send it to you, then you could burn your own CD from that -
but it's about 100MB so I hope you've got a fast line...

Hi and thanks for the offer.
Later I did found the "Baseline Flash prog PC app" at the
Microchip site and have it installed.
That kit was about 3-4 Mb's. What's in the rest of
the aprox 100 Mb's on your CD ? If it's only downloadable
material (such as data sheets) I see no reason to copy it.
And, besides, I'm currently on a V56 modem line.
(Yes, that's the best my phone/Internet provider
can offer where I live..)

I imagine it's all downloadable, if you can find your way around Microchip's web site... it looks like as well
as the BFMP stuff it has the software, techical documentation and manuals for the PICkit 1, a tutorial,
software and manuals for the "PICtail Signal Analysis board" (add-on board for the PICkit), 28MB of
Application Notes, 35MB of Data Sheets, a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a thing for getting Boy Scouts out
of Horses' Hooves! :-)

Ah... probably a bad idea then. I won't mention my 2Mbps ADSL line - it'll just sound like I'm bragging....
:-)
