'[PIC]: infra red transmissionon 16F84'

Hello every body
I am trying to build an infrared transmitter and receiver working with
sony's infrared protocol (SIRC). I am using the Siemens SFH506
decoder?receiver as the receiver for the infrared signal and I am trying to
let it trigger the external interrupt on a 16f84, but it does not work. I
have set the intedge to trigger on rising edge, and basically has the output
of the SFH directly to the portB,0 pin.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Are you getting an output from the SFH506 when you activate the IR
Transmitter ?
If not then the chances are that the carrier frequency on your IR
Transmitter is not matching the filter frequency of the SFH506. Not all
systems use 38kHz
some use 32,34,36 or 40 kHz and some Japanese equipment uses 56kHz.
I presume you are specifying the Sony Infra Red Protocol because you
have one of their handsets. As far as I am aware this protocol only defines
the pulse train, it does not define a fixed carrier frequency.
Measure the frequency out of the transmitter with an infra-red LED connected
to the Y input of an oscilloscope

With a 100 ohm resistor across the LED else you won't see anything but
slow triangles.
