All, I have looked and I can't seem to find a firmware update for the Pickit2 that allows it to work with the 10F322 for the Mouser contest. Does anyone know if the Pickit2 works with (or will it ever) the PIC10F322? I have hesitated to get a Pickit3, but if that is what it takes, I may have to. Regards, Jim

I did so myself earlier this week to ask about ICD / PICkit debug support for the 10f322 - Microchip tech support tells me that the header board adapters will be available sometime in March. I'm hoping to get a couple of early samples before then, else the project that I have in mind for the '322 will have to go to a different part. Hi. If you download the latest device file for the PICkit2 stand-alone application (that is, not integrated with MPLAB) you see that both 10F320 and 10F322 are listed in the file. Did you check my links ? I first opened the "Device File 1.62.14". It's a binary file, but with a hex capable editor I could find the 320 and 322 devices. Then I checked the "Current PICkit 2 Device Support (November 2011)" page and under the heading "In addition to the devices above, the PICkit2 Programmer Application v2.61 provides programming support for the following devices with the latest device file:" I found the PIC10F320, 322 devices. Note also that the 10F2xx parts are listed in the first part of the page, the part that lists parts supported from within MPLAB. The 10F3xx parts are further down in the list where the additional parts supported from the stand-alone application are listed. Jan-Erik.

I wanted to let you know that Microchip tech support got back to me today - they are sending me an engineering sample of the 10f322 header board adapter for ICD / PICkit. Yay! Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that Microchip tech support has become MUCH more responsive in the past few months? It was sometimes taking 2 weeks or more before anyone would acknowledge that I had a problem, let alone help me find a resolution. Now I'm getting a response within the day. I don't bug Microchip's tech support very often but when I do, its usually because I simply don't have any other option and I really need help NOW. Am I correct that hardware-wise the PIC development board for $3.75 should be able to program another copy of itself ? www.microchip.com/forums/m625916-print.aspx What is required is software to bit bang emulate a serial port and to send programming signals to a second board. You also need hardware to generate/drive Vpp. And the question is of the 10F's has enough memory for the full logic of a "programmer". I thought Vpp could be operated at "normal" voltage levels. Perhaps the 10F322 does not have enough memory. It appears that only two digital pins are required ... so perhaps RA0-Out and RA3-In can be the serial port. For programming you actually need 3 I/Os- MCLR/VPP, PGC (clock), PGD (data). The MCLR/VPP gets you into programming mode, but the data is sent over the PGC/PGD pair. You don't necessarily need a high voltage to program the 10F322, but MCLR/VPP still needs to be controlled to get it into the right mode.
