IIRC, the modbus spec was the ONLY free info I found on the web. No one would share any info unless you paid them for it. I posted requests for info on the Microchip and Hi-Tech forums, and the only responses I got were, "I'm having problems finding info also." (This was before I found PICLIST.) Part of the problem is that what I thought was a well-defined standard was really a de facto standard that everyone implemented a little differently based on their requirements. I just checked the latest Modbus spec (June 4, 2004), and it is more thorough than the one I remember. Steve
