'[PIC] PICList is closing, Bad joke?'

OK, I have been on vacation and just got back, is this a hoax or not?
I really rely on this site for survival, this better be a joke!
What does it cost to run this site anyway?
And if it is truly going to close, couldn't we take all of the archive data and either sell it on CD/DVD's or publish a reference book/journal. Maybe even the sales could be used to finance the site?
Is this realistic? How much storage capacity (GB) does this site currently occupy?
There is got to be a way we can save this site, even if it means that we move it to a new location.
This site is truly an asset to the PIC community. I would really have not been able to achieve what I have done with out the knowledgebase this community provides.
And is Sony really purchasing Microchip? or is that another joke?
Best regards,
Tim

thanks and best wishes! Bad joke?

Looks funny to me.
However, I didn't get any other posts on this subject, including the
original. Wonder what happened.
Has this got the right subject tag?
Looks useful.
Should I use it for all my posts in future?

I heard that they lost face over manuals being printed in Chinese but not
Japanese. After the takeover is complete, all manuals will be written by a
team in Japan in Japlish. "Please to set bit the ADON in honerable ADCON1
register..."
However, this unconfirmed and not from a reliable source.

You think that's bad? Here are some extracts from an Epson printer mechanism
datasheet:
==
The indispensable corner position when Ribbon Cassette is removed.
After detected Reset Signal R1,when detected Reset Signal Rn that is used for
basis of n dot line,Reset Signal R which is generated after generation Timing
Signal T (210 x (n-2) + 79) is determined as Reset Signal Rn.
==
... And there's plenty more where that came from. Most of the time I find it
easier to look at the timing diagrams than try and understand the Engrish. I
really don't rate the writing skills of the person who wrote this datasheet.
A neat little printer module let down by a truly dire datasheet...
Later.
