Hi All,
I'm a newbie to the SX so be gentle!

I've just installed SX-Key Editor v3.2.92h BETA, updated the USB drivers and I'm trying to program a Robolympics medal using a SX-Key USB.

I'm using the Badge.SXB code from the Parallax website with a small modification to the text that it's suppoded to write on the badges display.

The program compiles fine but I get a "VPP Generation Error" message when programming and the badges OEM program continues to run.

I'm using Vista and I'm thinking that this is some kind of interaction between it and the USB drivers for the SX-Key.

Has anyone else encountered this or des anyone have any thoughts on how to get rid of the error?

Thanks,

Kevin

I don't have the medal, but looking at: http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=7&m=196956
I wonder if you need an external 5v power supply, isn't the onboard batteries only 3.3v?

[Quoting: "the above link"]
The considerations towards programming the RoboGames medal for your own use are that you need an SX-Key and a 5V power supply

Or maybe you could use a sx-keyring if you have one.

Make sure you have the SX-Key plugged in the right way around.
The original badge with the 3 AAA cells requires an external +5V to program. I don't THINK the new version does because it uses (2) 3V batteries.

Bean.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your suggestions but the batteries are brand new, checked them with a DVM under load just to be sure, and I do have the SX-Key plugged in correctly.
It doesn't fit the other way, it hits on board components.

Thanks,
Kevin

Damn it!
Never mind, Bean was right I did have the SX-Key upside down.
Didn't think they would make it so that you would rub up against the SX chip and didn't want to take the chance of physically damaging it but I tried it and it works!

Thanks Bean.
