I use and like Advanced Transdata's RICE17A emulator. They are
compact, modular, reasonably priced (for a full featured hardware
emulator) and do a few things Microchip's own ICE-2000 can't do
(higher emulation speeds, 3.3V emulation to name a couple). I
also like the IDE for it much better than MPLAB. At about 1/3 the
price of a Microchip ICE-2000 system, I think it's a bargain. The
Advanced Transdata tech support is also very good.
