Maybe this is obvious to others, but what is the difference between the
16C63 and  the 63A.

The MPLAB-ICE requires different modules for these chips.  Wierd.

If memory serves, the A has brown out detection.
It is a flag that can be used when the interrupt is triggered.
If you are using 63 code in a 63A, simply disable this feature in the
configuration.
(at least that is what I did on the 62 and 62A chips I got)

plus some bugs fixed, i think (look at the errata sheets), and the spi
module enhanced.

I would guess that if microchip release revsions that fix bugs (eg BRGH =1)
they would also like to release new emulator pods that also have the same
bugs
fixed. Not so weird to me. ;-)

The 16C63 has brownout detection also. There is no change here.
