Aaron, the crystal is an Epson CA-301 type. The crystal goes between
OSC1 and OSC2. Use the following capacitors from OSC1 and OSC2 to ground:
4Mhz - 15pf (XT or HS mode)
8Mhz - 15pf - 33pf (HS Mode)
20Mhz - 15pf - 33pf (HS Mode)
I normally use 15pf caps. Keep the leads as short as possible. You can
get data sheets and app notes from Microchip's web page at:
