Can anyone suggest a reputable/worthwhile electronics program,
certification or even
affiliation that one can obtain in "their spare time".  I have several
advanced degrees in chemistry and have sworn off any more graduate
schooling, but would like to find a means of strengthening my electronics
affiliation for purposes of resume building.  Anything you can suggest
would be appreciated.

CIE (Clevelend Inst. of Electronics) found in Electronics Now, and other
electronic pubs has a home study course for several different areas of
electronics.  I enrolled in there AAS degree several years ago.  They give
you small books to learn from.  Basically one topic at a time.  You then
take a test at the end of each book and send it in for grading.  After so
many lessons, you have to take a supervised test.

I liked the lessons.  Simple yet thourgh.  You pay for one semister, but if
you can do three sems. worth of work in one semister, you only pay for that
one semister, the other two are free.
