'Geocities Web site [OT]'

I am about to set up a Web site at the Geocities server. As I noticed some
people are using their services, I would like to ask, if there are any
limitation on the space provided, on the content (I mean for commercial
purposes), or on the time for witch it is free, or any other drawback I may
not like.
Probably I could find all that details at their help pages, but I do not
have access to the net with a http protocol :-(
Thanks

IIRC they expect you to have one of their links on your pages. I've only got
their link on two or three of my pages and haven't had any complaints.
Keith.

Geocities is quite liberal. About the only kind of stuff you can't do is
anything morally objectionable, porn, hate lit. andything like that. As for
space you have a limit of 2MB, and it is free forever AFAIK. They do have a
pay program that gets you some extra stuff, but I don't need it much. TTYL

Herbert (and Josef):
Geocities' Content Guidelines prohibit the following:
Providing material that is grossly offensive to the Web
community including blatant expressions of bigotry, racism,
hatred, or profanity
Promoting or providing instructional information about illegal
activities, or promoting physical harm or injury against any
group or individual
Using your free Personal Home Pages for commercial purposes,
including but not limited to the following:
Offering for sale any products or services
Soliciting for advertisers or sponsors
Displaying a sponsorship banner of any kind, including
those that are generated by banner or link exchange
services, with the sole exception of the GeoCities
GeoRewards program and the Link Exchange
Displaying banners for services that provide cash or
cash-equivalent prizes to users in exchange for
hyperlinks to their web site
Promoting or soliciting for participation in multi-level
marketing or pyramid schemes
Conducting raffles or contests that require any type of
entry fee
Displaying material containing nudity or pornographic material
of any kind
Displaying material that exploits children under 18 years of age
Developing restricted or Password-only access pages, or hidden
pages or images (those not linked to from another accessible
page)
Using your page (or directory) as storage for remote loading or
as a door or signpost to another server
Using your page for acts of copyright infringement including
offering pirated computer programs or links to such programs,
information used to circumvent manufacturer-installed
copy-protect devices, including serial or registration numbers
for software programs, or any type of cracker utilities
Violating Internet standards for the purpose of promoting your
home page
Developing pages that consist of hyperlinks to content not
allowed in GeoCities
The "offering for sale any products or services" prohibition is
enforced a little loosely... They don't object to a MENTION of your
company so long as your page content is primarily non-commercial, but
they don't want online catalogs, price lists, etc.

You have 2 M of free space, more if you want to spend US$ 5 per month.
No advertising allowed.
Some additional features possible, that you can check on their web site
Hope that will help and let us know your page number
