One difference being that Jesus Christ came to the Earth to die for our sins
whereas JFK was a man that lived on the Earth, got to be President and made
some decisions that people didn't like.

When people were crucified they died from exhaustion and lack of
oxygen(suffocation). To breath in they hadto push down on their feet to take
the tension off their arms so they were able to breath in. When a person got
too tired from loss of blood, lack of water and exposure they took less and
less pressure off their arms so they slowly suffocated as their breaths got
shallower and shallower.

The Romans knew about that? I really never thought about...

But still, a personality, important or rich person, is an example of the
possibilities and limits we can go, so when a person like that dies, it
shows to us that all the money and status are not important, can not
save his(her) life, still a common human being, so in some way we got
frustrated... besides that, all the TV, Radio, Newspaper and Magazines
need to make money with *anything different*, and will explore the
subject while it generates the extra dollar. Pure money issues, nothing
else.... or do you really thing that Diana's funeral worldwide TV
coverage was just "for free"?

It would be interesting to find out how much the advertising slots were for
the coverage. I doubt that the US networks gave that time away...

Suffocation, don't agree on that, as expansion via the diaphram and stomch
mussles would be more than enough for air.

Try it some time. When you're stretched out, there isn't enough slack for
diaphragm to fill up your lungs. You know how when you breath in, your
stomach gets larger? Well, if the skin is pulled tight, there isn't enough
slack to allow this expansion. Scholars have proved this, it's scientific.

Not to mention what happens when you are hung on a cross is that they break
your legs so the shear weight of the lower torso would crush the chest region
there by causing the sufforcation.

Jesus' legs were not broken. Seemed unusual as all people who were hung on
the cross had their legs broken.

Wow, even MORE atheistic!! You're right, we can't prove He existed, you must
believe. Can you prove that YOU exist?

1999\07\25@181115 by Darren Logan

Yes I can prove that I exist.

I think therefore I am... not to mention, if i didnt then I wouldnt be
writing this.

I dont like to think of myself as an atheist, but rather a realist.

Ok....we could argue about this forever. In fact, it HAS been argued forever.
It's sad to watch people hate eachother JUST over an arguement. IOW, I won't
hate ya because you don't believe what I believe, so let's leave it at that.
I can't change what you believe, but SOMEONE can.

The original poster of "How many PICs to save JFK Jr." was right that this
would turn into a controversial debate.

You put money in the church collection box you see & TA DA ! a new
generation has funding for missionaries /  high priests.

and the Holy Bible is
> still a best-seller you know...

So are TV guides, do you believe even 50% of what you see on TV ?
..maybe in another 2000 years there will be holy TV guides.

The US Gov't is in possession of the medical records for the Jews which
Hitler used as guinea pigs.  One of the experiments was crucifixion.  This
was what they learned.

Only as a way to hasten death, as described earlier by others what happens
to the arms and diaphragm etc.

This also is recorded in the Bible.

It's tolerably acceptable to consider that the Bible CONTAINS fiction
(precise fraction subject to discussion) but if you consider it
solely or principally a work of fiction you are liable to have
problems with reality as a whole :-)

I consider it just the opposite, if you base your life around a book of
stories (whether fiction or not!), you obviously are going to have many
more problems with reality :-).

BTW, do you have any proof whatsoever that the Bible isn't totally a
work of fiction, and a badly translated one at that!.
