'IrDA on PIC'

Hi,
Has anyone done an IrDA port onto a 16C74 device. Granted IrDA goes to
115Kbaud but the Microsoft MSDN-II literature states that when an IrDA
device is placed with range of a WIN-95 system with installed IrDA software
the two devices negotiate a speed.
Communication between the devices can be as simple as a hard wired serial
link which means after communication is established, what the data looks
like is application dependent. In fact under WIN-95 application programming
the IrDA is opened as a pseudo COM port so standard comm software techniques
will work. Question is: What about the PIC side and the negotiation for speed?
Regards,
John

Where did you find the info on how to get the PC motherboard to work with
it? My *bios* has support, but I can find no data on h/w support for it.

MSDN-II. Only costs $800 Cdn per year. 8-(
If you have a PC with an IrDA port it will come with a driver in teh Setup
window under WIN95. If you buy an aftermarket DONGLE that attaches to a COM
or LPT port it will come with drivers to which you can attach. W/O the
hardware there's not much point in the software.

Hi,
A bit of topic but since it may lead to interesting PIC apps in
the future I hope it's OK?
