I'm using a couple of 16c74s and 16c73 in an i2c multimaster
application. For energy saving some of them have to be powered
done completely (power supply switch off), then they are not in a
measuring state.
My problem is, that these devices are pulling down the SCL and SDA
lines, so that the active ones can not communicate.

Any suggestions?

Tell them to SLEEP instead.

why not using a 4066 in the SDA and SCL lines
