Post by thread:Power consumpttion of PIC 16 series?

Can anyone explain why there seem to be 2 conflicting sets of current consumption figures for the PIC 16C7x series? The data sheet for eg 16C73A contains a DC characteristics table with the figures: 2,7mA typ, 5.0 mA max, XT mode, 4 MHz, 5.5 volts but a few pages later are consumption graphs which appear to show current of 1.4 mA typ/1.5 mA max for the same conditions? I suppose it's only a 2:1 difference, but in my application that means somebody might need to shin up a tree twice as often! The graphical figures also purport to be for the whole family of devices which seems a bit odd? I expect I'm missing something obvious. TIA -- Alan Hall, Ipswich, UK
