'Protel to .GIF or .JPG or .PDF ?'

Hi gals and guys,
Sorry if this is rather off-topic (well ignore it if yah want).
I use Protel software for schematics and PCBs, is there any utility to
convert the binary .S?? or .PCB file to GIF/JPG/PDF - or a utility
that can convert the HP-GL output of the Protel plot program to
GIF/JPG/PDF ?
I think this could be of use to other PICers if they use Protel and want
to post GIFs etc to a web page or send via email attachments ?

[Unknown, 25 March] A terrible diet and room with no ventilation are
being blamed for the death of a man who was killed by his own gas.
There was no mark on his body but autopsy showed large amounts of
methane gas in his system. His diet had consisted primarily of beans
and cabbage (and a couple of other things). It was just the right
combination of foods. It appears that the man died in his sleep from
breathing from the poisonous cloud that was hanging over his bed.
Had he been outside or had his windows been opened, it wouldn't have
been fatal. But the man was shut up in his near airtight bedroom. He
was ". . . a big man with a huge capacity for creating [this deadly
gas]." Three of the rescuers got sick and one was hospitalized.
Portable PIC methane gas detector perhaps for those Vegetarians over 100 Kg ?

I have a lot of luck printing the file as a HPGL from the schematic/PCB
program, importing it into Microsoft Word, and then printing as a PDF file.
As for how to get it to a GIF, I am not sure.

IF you're using Protel for Windows, I suggest printing to a Postscript
file (if you don't have Postscript printer already, just install the
Laserwriter Pro 600 driver directed to FILE:) then using Ghostscript
to convert to a bit-map format, or use Adobe Distiller to create a PDF
file - I have a feeling there might be a Ghostscript add-on to create PDF files
too, which would be cheaper than Distiller. The good thing about PDF
is that the viewer is free.

I think Hi-Jack Pro can do the conversion, it has a wide range of
files for converting.

Thanks Todd,
I'm using Protel for DOS (I know - the old one but) its faster than Protel
for Windows (on my system) and I know the key-strokes like an old piano !
Re: Your comment:
Do you mean that the HPGL file produced by Protel by 'printing' to a file
can be imported into Microsoft Word (version 6.0) - I had no idea that
Word could read an HPGL file - could you confirm this before I go to the
trouble of getting Word 6.0 ?
Thanks Todd, and Rgds
Mike
PS: Thanks to all the other comments I've received, I'll search for Hi-Jack :}

I don't know a sepparate utility, but you ca use Corel Draw 3,4,5,6
to import the HPGL file, fit it to page and export it to GIF/BMP/EPS
format.

Mike,
There is a shareware program called PrintGL that will output the
*.PCK files that EasyPlot generates. It can output to the printer, file
or screen. ( I generate *.PCX files and use Microsoft Paint to modify ).
I have the web url somewhere for this program.. well.. I can't find it
on my machine. I can email it to you if you want.
Let me know if you want it.

James,
I'd like a copy of it also if you wouldn't mind.
