Hello,

i have developed a small circuit with an 16C84, i need only 1 input and 1
output, and 200 bytes of program memory. Can i replace the 16C84 with an
12C508, it is much cheaper. Can i use my David Tait programmer for the
12C508?

Greetings from Germany,

Hello,

I am planning to replace a 16F84 with a 12C508 as well. I was just wondering
if is possible to use a programmer that was made especially made for the
16f84 (kit 84, kitsrus.com)?

I was think that I all I had to was simply map the proper pins made for the
16f84 down to the 12C508?

I have the pdf schematic for the kit if anybody wants to help me.

Thanks.

you only need 4 jumpers on the solder side of the board.
see:
http://www.dontronics.com/dt001cha.html
but you may also need:
http://www.dontronics.com/p16pro.html
for the software to program it.

Hello,

So if I am not wrong then the following is a list between what pins on the
18 pin pic16f84 correspond to the 508/509:

===========================================
======================  F84     | 508/509       |
VDD (5V Pulse)                 14      | 1             |
VPP (13V Pulse)                4       | 4             | <- MCLR*
RB7                            13      | 7             |
RB6                            12      | 6             |
GND                            5       | 8             |
===========================================
http://www.dontronics.com/dt001cha.html
thanks Don.
===========================================

Somebody please correct my if I am wrong! Most of the pins make sense.

BTW, has anybody done such a replacement (F84 -> 508/509) in burning pics
and had it worked?

Later.

yes thousands now i would think between dt001, diykit96, diykit119, but
only if you have the correct software.
my latest DT001 boards now have the tracks on the board.
