there's a search engine there.

This is the site of Don Lancaster, who has written a huge number of articles

       Well, what I did was read the A/D, square the result and accumulate 256
of these squares. I then took the square root of the high half of the sum
(throwing out the low half, or dividing by 256). The result was the RMS
over the sample period.
