Hi Sam
Nice site!
I would prefer that for JAL you put (instead of or in addition to the copy
of the jal.zip)
a link to my JAL page: there is somewhat more than the jal.zip itself and
it saves you the copying of every new version....
I have a 16x84 programmer design at http://www.xs4all.nl/~wf/wouter/pic/wisp.
At http://www.xs4all.nl/~wf/wouter/pic/djo/e_index.html I have a set of
assignments
around the 16x84 and JAL (and wisp, but that is not essential)
meant for 12-18 year old memebers of the local electronics club.
I think that you should make clear what you mean to be put in the links
section, I think only links to large sides should be put there, smaller
sides should be linked directly to the various projects. This is how it
is currently, but is is not pointed out.
Mayby you should add a 'beginners' section. There are not many sides/pages
aimed sqarely ate the beginner (how do I by my first pic, build the
programmer, program the pic to flash a LED).
Oh, when I click on one ofe the items in the site administration
I can make a nice email in Netscape, but I do not use N for email.....
Mayby add the email address in plaintext so it can be copied easily
to a mail program?
regards,
Wouter.

I will link to some of the stuff or store it locally since i belive it would
make a good addition

The PIC archive has no recieved over 6000 hits, as can be observed from the
on page counter, which has now been made visible. With well over 300 hits a
day, the site is turning out to be very popular.
If you havn't visited the PIC archive your obviously missing out. Take a
look at: http://come.to/thepicarchive
Happy surfing.....
Sam Powell
P.S. As usual I welcome projects submisisons - you make this site what it is

With now close
to 10,000 visitors (since the openeing on the eve of the 19th of April) the
PIC archive is continuing to grow. Now, based on a faster server all your
downloads should be 4K\sec + (in the UK, with a half reasonable modem and
connection).
With over 150 items based at the PIC archive, along with the FULL mirror of
David Tait's PIC Archive if you havn't visited then do so quick. The address
is, as always:
http://come.to/thepicarchive/
And Remeber: The PIC archive is what it is because of YOU! If I dont recieve
any project submission s then the site dont grow. Whatever you have
produced, e-mail it to me for me to check out and I will most likely upload
it that day...

The PIC archive is a growing collection of PIC applications, documents,
tools and other useful information. With over 12,500 hits since its opening
on the 19th April this year it obvious that this site is the ultimate PIC
resource.
And since the closure of David Tait's legendarey PIC archive, the PIC
archive has become an official mirror, hosting the entire archive in it s
original glory.
So many hits show that you just cant afford to not visit the PIC archive.
Enter now at http://come.to/thepicarchive
Many Thanks,
Sam Powell
P.S. - Please continue to submit your projects, links, and other files. Any

You must have seen a better one, could you share it with us? I just started
poking around pic and found it very difficult to understand Myke Predko's
book . But, Covington's article left me with no imagination. The data book
is too dry! The only thing I can think of is "easy pic" Any suggestion is
greatly appreciated!

I think that Tony has done many things to help the PIC community, including
making some of his software available free. In return, I don't see why it
is a terrible difficulty to allow him to suggest his products as aids for
newcomers once in a while.
He is certainly not the only one that does it,and I for one find such
periodic product pointers a great help.

I personally don't mind Tony advertising as;
1. It is PIC products
2. The more PIC resources the better
3. Tony contributes a lot to the list.
I know this might be selective morality and some give an inch and
take a mile but wayyyyy OT's are a bigger hassle.
Oh by the way.. the other lists with strict rules.... SUCK!
Thery're boring and plastic and are like sitting through obscure
maths/physics lectures.

Hello Les,
In the few months that I have been a subscriber to this list I have
seen many posts by Tony Nixon of Pic-n-Poke ... and I cannot remember
one that wasn't informative and helpful. His posts and his site at
http://www.picnpoke.com are valuable assets of the PIC community, and
I for one, value his presence on this list!
When you receive posts that you're sick of hearing, I suggest that
you UTFDK! (that is a reference to the Delete Key)

Check back thru the archives. Tony's mentions of his software
are always in answer to someone's question about how to solve
a problem. His package is a bargain. There's no way he could
make enough to pay for the time he has sunk into this. He's
only trying to be helpful, and I for one appreciate it.

Les,
Perhaps you should also pick on Don for his Dontronics, Migual for his
development boards Andy for his Hydro stuff Clyde for his Hi-Tech stuff
the list goes on and on. We should be looking at the quality of the
response not just the contents at the end.
Put up with advertising from a select small group of excellent responderes,
else the end result is to gag these people from providing information in a
two way format, and alas you will remove the minds of the greater and
expose youself to the simplistic world of the ant.

Hey now,
Tony is a long time contributor to this list. I think he's paid his dues.
It's called a plug and any entrepreneur worth his salt will seize
opportunities as they arise. I don't think Tony's getting rich anyway. In
another thread, he's giving away a very useful piece of SW.
Keep on PIC'n, Tony.

I'll add to the chorus. Tony didn't deserve that.
If Les were correct about what the PICLIST was
"designed for", then I suppose we all should
refrain from talking about what we do for a living.
That should leave lots of bandwidth to talk about...
uhh... hmmmm... well... anybody got any ideas?

Typically when someone posts something inappropriate to the list, they just
lay low until everyone forgets about it. I can't speak for Tony or anyone
