'ink_jet a transparency?'

Would an ink jet work for making the transparincies for photo etching a
pcb or would the ink slough off or something ?
Not a pic question directly but it's a pic device I'm developing.

From my (little) experience I can say that ink jetting isn't perfect for
the job, but it is a lot better than photocoping or laserprinting on a
transparency.
Best 'hobby' results are created with an penplotter (=hobby?) on
non-glossy semi-transparant paper ('calc'?).

Yes.
Maybe you have to set the option "Intensify black" (it is possible on my
Canon BJ).

AFAIK it depends on both the ink and the transparency material. Some inks
are based on water, some on some alcohol like stuff. Gotta get a
transparency specified for a certain ink, I suppose.

I've got an Epson Stylus Color, and I use it to print my PCBs layouts
(transparencies at 720 dpi) to photo etch my boards, and it works
fine. The only problem you can have is to accurately trim the
print heads distance from the film to avoid parasite ink traces.
Another thing: you just need to wait at least 2 hours to have your
film really dry.

Use the transparincies sold for inkjet printers. If you use the
copier/laser printer transparency in an inkjet the ink runs and smears.

Hi,
I use both Ink Jet and LaserJet O/P onto A4 tracing paper/drafting
film.
It gives me far more repeatable/solid results than I have achieved
using transparencies and seems to be more stable - especially with the
Laser. UV transparency doesn't appear to be a problem either.
Just my two penneth...
